Street shrine site for Reginald Bernard Brown III / 4700 block of Pard Road, Capitol Heights, Maryland

From a Prince George's County Police report: The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The victim is Reginald Bernard Brown III, 18.
On May 12, 2015, at about 11:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4700 block of Pard Road in Capitol Heights for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Brown and four other men suffering from gunshot wounds. Brown died of his injuries a short time later at a hospital. The other victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation reveals the victims were in front of a home when they were shot.

There are two shrines constructed by friends and family at the site of this sad shooting. I spoke to a neighbor about the situation. I pray for peace and justice for all concerned.










Quadruple homicide: Savopoulos family, 3200 block of Woodland Drive NW, Washington DC | Crime scene tape

From a DC Police report: On Thursday, May 14, 2015, just before 1:30 pm, personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a residence for the report of a fire in the 3200 block of Woodland Drive NW, Washington DC. While extinguishing the fire, four people – three adults and a juvenile – were discovered inside. The occupants have been confirmed deceased.

Savvas Savapoulos, his wife Amy Savapoulos, their 10-year-old son Philip, and their housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, lost their lives in this tragic occurrence.

On Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 11:00 pm, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Daron Dylon Wint, 34. Wint is charged with First Degree Felony Murder While Armed. The investigation is ongoing. It appears that murder and arson were committed in the act of robbery.

There was a large police presence in the area the day I documented this site. It is quite near the Vice-Presidential mansion.

"I love you fool" Gregory McBryde's memorial | 1300 block of Harvard Street NW, Washington DC

From a DC police report: On Friday, May 1, 2015 at approximately 12:52 am, members of the Third District were on patrol when they heard gunshots in the area of the 1300 block of Harvard Street NW, Washington, DC. The area was canvassed and members located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim identified as Gregory McBryde, 21, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

This large shrine to Mr. McBryde's memory is in a busy part of DC.

Darlene Marie Bryant's memorial, 4300 block of Wheeler Road SE, DC

From a DC police report: On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at approximately 6:39 pm., members of the Seventh District received a call for the report of a shooting in the 4300 block Wheeler Rd SE, Washington DC.  Upon arrival to the scene, officers located an adult female, unresponsive and suffering from stab wounds.  The decedent, identified as Darlene Marie Bryant. 46, was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

A neighbor told me that the late Ms. Bryant lived directly across the street from where this shrine has been erected in her memory.


Memorial for Ms. Tamara Gliss | 1300 block of P St NW, Washington DC

This collective shrine to the memory of Ms. Gliss has been created and placed immediately behind the Kennedy Recreation Center, in Washington DC.

May her community know peace.

From a DC police report: On Monday, May 25, 2015 at approximately 8:50 pm, members of the Third District responded to a call for a shooting in the area of the 1300 block of 6th Street NW, Washington DC. Upon their arrival, members located an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Fire and EMS transported the victim, identified as Tamara Gliss, 31, to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.



Ms. Gliss's memorial has been kept up and expanded. While checking for a possible shrine to a more recent victim in the same area, I photographed her site again on August 14, 2015. There was also a DC Police community service tent near the shrine, promoting peace and safety in the community.





Double homicide: Deangelo Green and Rashard Jackson / Audrey Lane, Oxon Hill, Maryland

This police crime tape at the site of a double homicide is in a residential neighborhood close to the Washington DC line.

From a Prince George's Police report: The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a double homicide in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The victims are Deangelo Green, 24, and Rashard Jackson, 35.  On May 15, 2015, at about 11:55 pm, patrol officers were called to the 700 block of Audrey Lane, Oxon Hill, Maryland, for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Green outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at a hospital a short time later. Officers located the second victim, Jackson, behind a nearby apartment building. He had also been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminarily, it appears he ran after being shot and collapsed behind the building. The investigation reveals the two victims were standing outside when they were shot. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act.
