Shrine in honor and memory of the life of Carmelo Duncan, one year old | 5700 block of Southern Avenue SE DC



From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek assistance in locating a vehicle of interest in reference to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, in the 5700 block of Southern Avenue SE, Washington DC. At approximately 9:35 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members were advised that DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services had transported a juvenile victim, unconscious and unresponsive, to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. Detectives’ investigation revealed that the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while inside a vehicle, at the listed location. The decedent has been identified as 1 year-old Carmelo Duncan, of Southeast DC. 

The senseless killing of this innocent child shook our community deeply. May his family know peace and consolation, and may they be spared further grief.

Long Live Li'l Head - Street shrine for Anthony Orr | 400 block of Xenia Street SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, December 7, 2020, in the 400 block of Xenia Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 9:23 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of person down. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 30 year-old Anthony Orr, of no fixed address.

Shrine for Demeitri Anderson | 4500 block of Benning Road SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, November 29, 2020, in the 4500 block of Benning Road SE, Washington DC. At approximately 12:40 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location after hearing the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 23 year-old Demeitri Anderson, of Northeast DC.  







This large memorial is on busy Benning Road Southeast, very near East Capital Street.

Police tape, flags flying at the site of Devonte Wilson's slaying | 700 block of Morton Street NW

 From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, December 3, 2020, in the 700 block of Morton Street NW, Washington DC. At approximately 8:02 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a traffic accident. Upon arrival, members located an adult male, inside of a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.  On Friday, December 4, 2020, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Devonte Wilson of Northwest DC. 




 On Thursday, December 10, 2020 the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 32 year-old Mohamed Goodwin, of Northwest, DC. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.



Police tape for Marcus Wallace | 1400 block of L Street SE DC

 From a DC Police report; Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, November 21, 2020, in the 1400 block of L Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 9:05 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male, inside a residential building, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Marcus Wallace, of Northeast DC.  


This sad sight over looks the Southeast-Southwest Freeway and the Anacostia River.

At the site of Shalonte Pearson's slaying | 400 block of 61st Street NE DC

 From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, in the 400 block of 61st Street NE, Washington DC At approximately 12:52 am, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult female victim, inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 24 year-old Shalonte Pearson, of Southwest DC.

 From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, December 11, 2020, in the 1700 block of 29th Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 4:09 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead.  The decedent has been identified as 26 year-old Vincent Gyamfi, of Southeast DC. 

I briefly spoke with two young men who were his friends. I wish them and the community peace.
