Shrine to Marcus Thomas and Russell Williams at at the site of a double homicide | 4200 block of 4th Street SE DC - "We Miss You"

 

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in the 4200 block of 4th Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 1:21 pm, Seventh District officers responded to the listed location for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. A short time later, officers were notified of two additional adult male victims that were seeking treatment at a local hospital for life threatening gunshot wounds. After all life-saving efforts failed, one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The other victim is being treated for life threatening injuries. The decedents have been identified as 37 year-old Marcus Thomas and 28 year-old Russell Williams, both of Southeast DC. 

This memorial to Mr. Thomas and Mr. Williams's lives is erected in the same location as one built to another double slaying in spring 2021.

May they rest in peace and the community be spared further violence.










In search of justice for William Conry | 3500 block of Park Place NW DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, December 19, 2021, in the 3500 block of Park Place NW, Washington DC. At approximately 10:53 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, inside of a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old William Conry, of Northeast DC.

Site of the slaying of Malcolm Turner | 2500 block of Elvans Road SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in the 2500 block of Elvans Road SE, Washington DC. At approximately 3:21 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim, in the hallway of an apartment building, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Malcolm Turner, of no fixed address.

Shrine for Tracey James Lee | 300 block of 55th Street NE DC

From a DC Police report: On Monday, September 7, 2020, in the 300 block of 55th Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 10:30 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
 
The decedent has been identified as 44 year-old Tracey James Lee, of Northeast DC.

Poignant words from his sister are on this memorial: " Oh how it hurt so bad I try to keep it together but I'm up and sad I cry when I see you at night... I'm going to miss you my last touch was heart to heart a hug a kiss..."

A cross and a candle in memory of Samuel Hernandez | 200 block of Allison Street NW DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, December 20, 2021, in the 200 block of Allison Street NW, Washington DC. At approximately 12:29 am, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 17 year-old Samuel Hernandez of Hyattsville, MD.

Dmaree Miller | 3300 block of 12th Street SE DC

 From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in the 3300 block of 12th Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 4:37 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim, in the hallway of an apartment building, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 18 year-old Dmaree Miller, of Northeast DC.

In memory of Reginald Bynum | 4500 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a vehicle and dirt bike traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the intersection of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue and Hayes Street NE, Washington DC. The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:15 pm, the driver of a red 2005 Honda CRF250R (dirt bike) was traveling eastbound in the 4400 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. At the same time, a silver Hyundai Sonata, was traveling westbound in the 4500 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. As the Hyundai made a left hand turn into the 4400 block of Hayes Street, Northeast, the dirt bike collided with the passenger side of the Hyundai. The victim was separated from the dirt bike as a result of the traffic crash. DC Fire and EMS transported the operator of the dirt bike to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Additionally, the driver and one passenger of the Hyundai were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. On Sunday, August 29, 2021, after all life-saving efforts failed, the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 24 year-old Reginald Bynum, of Northeast DC.






Police tape at the site of John Cruz' slaying | 5500 block of Livingston Road, Oxon Hill MD

From a PG County police report: Detectives with the Prince George’s Police Department Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of 32 year-old John Cruz of Oxon Hill. On December 23, 2021 at about 1:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 5500 block of Livingston Road, Oxon Hill, Maryland, for a report of a shooting.  They discovered Cruz unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a car with gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Homicide Unit detectives charged four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects are 20-year-old Angel Amaya and 22-year-old Josue Torres. There are two juvenile suspects who are also charged with the homicide. All four suspects are charged with fatally shooting 32-year-old John Cruz. The motive for the shooting was a result of a robbery.

Jacques Russ | Unit block of 61st Street NE DC

 

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in the Unit block of 61st Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 6:50 am, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim, unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 44 year-old Jacques Russ, of Northeast DC. 

 This site is at the edge of a city park at the far eastern edge of the District.
