Two memorials to the life of Alexander Mosby. 2200 block of Savannah Terrace SE and 1922 MLK Jr. Ave SE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, May 26, 2018, in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace SE, Washington DC. At approximately 1:48 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as Alexander Mosby 39, of Southeast, DC.

From a post by his circle of supporters on a Facebook page for Ward 8 in DC:  "We are deeply saddened by the senseless killing of our friend, neighbor and colleague Alexander Mosby.
Alex was a father of 3, husband and entrepreneur. His love for the community of Anacostia was without limit. We need to work together to end the violence in our community! We’re a village that can and will thrive together. "

Shrine angel | Memorial for Rondell Wills, 200 block of 50th Street NE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Thursday, May 3, 2018, in the 200 block of 50th Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 5:27 pm, members of the Sixth District heard the sounds of gunshots and immediately responded to the listed location. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim, identified as Rondell Wills, 38, of Southeast DC, was pronounced dead.

Damoni Gaither's memorial | 300 block of Anacostia Road NE DC - "I still cry today"

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in the 300 block of Anacostia Road NE, Washington DC. At approximately 3:06 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. After finding no signs consistent with life, the victim, identified as Damoni Gaither, 17, of Southeast DC, was pronounced dead. Additionally, officers located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3500 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. They were both transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police tape at the site of a double homicide | Dalonte Wilson and Antone Brown | 400 block of 61st Street NE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a double homicide that occurred on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in the 400 block of 61st Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 11:34 pm, members of the Sixth District responded for the report of a shooting, at the listed location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males, inside of a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedents have been identified as Dalonte Wilson, 23, of Northeast DC and Antone Brown, 44, of Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Balloon for Adrian Terrance Gay | 800 Block of 21st Street NE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, April 7, 2018, in the 800 Block of 21st Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 1:10 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the report of a shooting at the listed location. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim, identified as Adrian Terrance Gay, 39, of Southeast DC, was pronounced dead.

I found this remnant of the shrine built in Mr. Gay's memory. It was what survived the recent heavy rains we have had in our area.



Three unknown homicide victims, 100 block of Wayne Place SE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating skeletal remains that were located on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in the 100 block of Wayne Place SE, Washington DC. Workers performing construction on an apartment building, at the listed location, contacted police in referenced to a discovery of skeletal remains. Members of the Seventh District responded to the scene and located what appeared to be human skeletal remains. On Friday, April 27, 2018, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the skeletal remains were human. On Saturday, April 28, 2018, two additional sets of skeletal remains were recovered nearby. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that these skeletal remains were also human. On Friday, May 4, 2018, after further examination, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the manner of death as Homicide for all three victims.

The police department has sealed off part of this apartment building and is doing an extensive investigation to learn what happened to these women, and hopefully to bring justice to them and some peace for their families.
