Flowers left in dignity for Malik Hill. 2700 block of Langston Place, SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE, Washington DC, on Friday, June 16, 2017. At approximately 10:43 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located two adult males and a juvenile male, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals. The first victim, an adult male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second and third victims remain in stable condition. The decedent has been identified as Malik Hill, 25, of Southeast, DC.

I spoke to a family friend, Elaine, at the site in the Woodland Terrace neighborhood. She said Malik "was a gentleman," always helpful, and that it was very sad that he never got a chance to be a husband and father.

She pointed out these flowers left at his family residence, but noted that his family didn't build a "makeshift" because he wasn't the type to drink liquor and carouse. At his heavily-attended funeral, Ward 8 Councilmember Trayvon White spoke in testimony of his life.
