Memorial for William Arthur Wells Jr. | teddy bear and a cross in the 200 block of 55th Street NE DC

From a DC police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 200 block of 55th Street NE, Washington DC, on Sunday, May 29, 2016. At approximately 1:30 am, members of the Sixth District responded to a call at the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. The first victim was found unconscious and unresponsive.  He succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead.  A second victim was found in the 5500 block of Blaine Street, Northeast, suffering from gunshot wounds.  The second victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The decedent has been identified as William Arthur Wells Jr., 39, of Southeast DC.
