From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in the 1500 block of V Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 9:26 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located three adult male victims, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Two of the adult male victims sustained non-life threatening injuries. DCFEMS transported one of the victims to a local hospital for treatment. The third victim displayed no signs consistent with life and remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old David Christian Spencer, Jr., of Southeast, DC. 

This memorial is in the heart of Old Anacostia.

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, May 6, 2022, in the 2300 block of Nicholson Street SE, Washington DC. At approximately 4:29 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life.  The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old Rashad Davis, of Southeast, DC.  

I am acquainted with some of Mr. Davis' relatives, and wish them every kindness and condolence. May his memory ever be for a blessing.

I observed this memorial to "Tyrone" " Mr. 51" in the 3200 block of Naylor Road, Temple Hills, MD. His date of death is listed as 3/16/2018 on the memorial T-shirt at the site.

I was unable to find additional information on this situation.

For Justin Johnson | 2200 block of Savannah Terrace SE DC

At approximately 11:24 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 16-year-old Justin Johnson, of Temple Hills, MD.

Shrine for Junior Johnson | 1600 block of Benning Road NE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, May 2, 2022, in the 1600 block of Benning Road NE, Washington DC. At approximately 3:17 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 45-year-old Junior Johnson, of Southwest, DC.  

This memorial to Mr. Johnson is close to two other recent street shrines to other victims of violence. May his people, and the community, be spared further grief.

In honor of Ladonia Boggs | 1500 block of Benning Road NE DC

From a DC Police Report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE, Washington DC. At approximately 2:52 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult female victim, inside a residence, suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 39-year-old Ladonia Boggs, of Northeast, DC.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 44 year-old Carl Jones, of Northeast, DC. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. The detectives’ investigation also revealed that this offense was domestic in nature.

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, May 13, 2022, in the 1200 block of Raum Street NE, Washington DC.At approximately 10:47 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult female victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 48-year-old Christine Chase, of no fixed address.

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the 1100 block of Raum Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 4:08 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim inside of a vehicle, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 26 year-old John Jones, of Temple Hills, MD. 

I have learned that this memorial is to two people in the neighborhood, one of whom was slain, the other who passed of natural causes.

This impressive street shrine is in the Ivy City/Trinidad neighborhood. May friends, family, the community, and the deceased know peace.

Deshaun Cupid | memorial, 700 block of 18th Street NE DC - "Thank you, your work has been done."

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in the 700 block of 18th Street NE, Washington DC. At approximately 6:03 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, the members located an adult female victim, inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 30 year-old Deshaun Cupid, of Northeast, DC.

This touching memorial is on the corner of Benning Road and 18th Street NE.  

May Ms. Cupid have eternal rest and her friends and family be spared further grief.

From a Prince Georges County Police report: Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Efrain Huerta Moran of Chillum, Maryland. On March 5, 2022, at approximately 7:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 2400 block of Chillum Road in Chillum for a report of a shooting.  They discovered the victim in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

At approximately 8:33 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim, inside of a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 20 year-old Jacky Brooks, of Hyattsville, MD.

Site of the slaying of Malachi Jackson | 3000 block of 13th Street NW DC

From a DC Police report: 3000 block of 13th Street NW Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, April 11, 2022, in the 3000 block of 13th Street NW, Washington DC. At approximately 10:50 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located a juvenile male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 15 year-old Malachi Jackson, of Northwest, DC.

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 13, 2022, in the 1100 block of 1st Place NW, Washington, DC. At approximately 1:05 am, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Morris Mitchell, of Northeast, DC. 

This memorial is in the remaining section of the Sursum Corda neighborhood.

Tiffany Wiggins- 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue NE

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, April 17, 2022, in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue NE, Washington DC. At approximately 11:16 am, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, the members located an adult female victim inside of a vehicle, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 38 year-old Tiffany Wiggins, of Southeast, DC.

This slaying occurred near a McDonald's restaurant along the busy Minnesota Avenue corridor.

For Pamela Thomas | memorial in the 600 block of Division Avenue NE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in reference to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in the 500 block of Division Avenue NE, Washington DC. At approximately 3:06 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, the members located an adult female victim, inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where despite all life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 54 year-old Pamela Thomas, of Northeast DC. 

According to an article in the Washington Post, Ms. Thomas was killed by a stray bullet while riding in the back seat of her sister's car on the way to a birthday party. They were caught in a crossfire of a gun battle near Marvin Gaye Park. She leaves behind a young son and grieving family. A vigil was held by her friends and family. May her memory be for a blessing and may justice and peace be served.

Mural for Darius Burts | 2700 block of Bruce Place SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday, March 28, 2021, in the 2700 block of Bruce Place SE, Washington, DC. At approximately 1:31 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, inside of a residence, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 27 year-old Darius Burts, of Southeast DC.

I spoke briefly with Mr. Burt's nephew about the mural and offered my condolences for his loss. Mr. Burt's nickname was Wop, hence “Wopland” for the housing complex he lived in, Woodland Terrace.

Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where despite all life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 22 year-old Marcquael Chambers, of Southeast, DC. 

This memorial is directly adjacent to the mural honoring Darius Burts, also slain in the Woodland Terrace housing complex. May their loved ones and the community be spared further grief.

At approximately 8:33 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the sound of a gunshot. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 33 year-old Dejuan Hailstorks, of Northwest DC.

Upon arrival, the members located an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where despite all life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 34 year-old Miana Luckett, of Southeast, DC.
