Shrine- July 3, 2007
I found this modest but moving shrine to a Washington DC murder victim at the corner of First Terrace and M Streets NW, in the deadly Sursum Corda neighborhood.
There were no identifying letters, grafitti, notes, or other markings visible. Just toys, balloons, and some candles. One small bear had the word "cat" written in magic marker on its head. That was all I could see.
Sometimes these fragile memorials are all that remains of a person's life.
