Shrine for Jeffrey Oxner | 900 block of Valley Avenue SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the 900 block of Valley Avenue SE, Washington DC. At approximately 3:04 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 49-year-old Jeffrey Oxner, of Southwest, DC.


Also, On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Seventh District officers responded to the listed location for sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female shooting victim. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Alison Cienfuegos-Vasquez, of Temple Hills, MD. 

All tragic. May there be no further cause for grief in this community.

SIte of the homicide of Mr. Kwame Keith | 1800 block of Fairlawn Avenue SE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating the death of a man in Northwest, D.C. On Monday, October 30, 2023, at approximately 7:37 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 1800 block of Fairlawn Avenue SE Washington, DC, for the report of found human remains. Upon arrival, officers located adult male human remains, inside of a trash can. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the manner of death a homicide. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Kwame Keith, of no fixed address.

Shrine for Reggie Brown | 6200 block of Georgia Avenue NW DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating the death of a man in Northwest, D.C. On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at approximately 12:54 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue NW, Washington DC, for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located a man with trauma. He died at the scene. The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Reggie Brown, of Northwest, DC. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death a homicide. 

This memorial to Mr. Brown is in the busy upper Georgia Avenue corridor.

Site of the deaths of Nathaniel Limes and James Cooper Jr. | 2500 block of 14th Street NE DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that left two men dead and three men injured. On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 2500 block of 14th Street NE, Washington DC, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 41-year-old Nathaniel Limes, of Richmond, VA and 46- year-old James Cooper Jr. of Northeast, DC, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims died at the scene. A third victim was located with gunshot wound injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Two additional victims were located at local hospitals receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Carlos Haythe was also murdered just two blocks away from this site on October 12, 2023

Police tape at the site of Alonzo Jessie Atkins' passing | 5500 block of 7th Street NW DC

From a DC Police report: Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Northwest, D.C. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 5500 block of 7th Street NW, Washington DC, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man with gunshot wound injuries. He died at the scene. The victim was identified as 36-year-old Alonzo Jessie Atkins, of Northwest, D.C.
