Shrine for Dayquan Miller | 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE DC


From a DC Police report: On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 9:48 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the report of sounds of gunshots outside in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE, Washington DC. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded, and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Dayquan Miller of Southeast, D.C.

This large memorial to Mr. Miller's life was erected at the perimeter of Oxon Run Park.

May his loved ones and community be spared further grief.





Police tape at the site of the slaying of Adrian Hawkins | Unit block of Banner Lane NW DC

From a DC Police report: On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 10:38 p.m., First District officers responded to the Unit block of Banner Lane NW, Washington DC, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers found an adult male victim, unconscious and not breathing, and a juvenile female victim conscious and breathing. Both victims were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and despite all lifesaving efforts pronounced the adult male victim deceased. The juvenile female victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threating injuries. The adult male victim has been identified as 20-year-old Adrian Hawkins, of no fixed address. 

This tragedy occurred in the Sursum Corda neighborhood of DC.

RIP Ruben Arevalo Saavedra | 3700 block of Shepherd Street. Brentwood MD

From a PG County Police report: Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives identified and charged two teenagers in connection with a recent fatal shooting that occurred in the town of Brentwood, Maryland. The suspects are both 16 years old and are from Mount Rainier. They are charged as adults with the murder of 16-year-old Ruben Arevalo Saavedra of Hyattsville. On June 12, 2026, at approximately 4:55 pm, officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Shepherd Street. Officers located the victim outside suffering from a gunshot(s) wound. He died at the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed the suspects shot the victim in connection with an on-going dispute. The victim and suspects were known to each other. On Thursday, the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested the suspects. The suspects are both charged with first and second degree murder and related offenses. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

RIP Angel Guzman | 1500 block of Merrimac Drive, Langley Park MD

From a PG County Police report: The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting at a community center in Langley Park, Maryland. The victim is 16-year-old Angel Guzman of Silver Spring. On June 26, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm, officers with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division, and Prince George’s County Police officers responded to the Langley Park Community Center in the 1500 block of Merrimac Drive, Langley Park, for the report of an unresponsive male. The victim was located outside suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He died at the scene.
