Memorial shrine for 50 Grand / Daniel Calvin Short, of Southeast DC

From a DC police report: On Sunday, February 23, 2014, at approximately 3:30 am, members of the First District responded to the area of the 5th and K Streets NE, Washington DC, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim, identified as Daniel Calvin Short, 36, of Southeast Washington, DC, to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

This shrine to the memory of Mr. Short is in the 4100 block of 1st Street SE, Washington DC. It was erected by his brother and others in his circle. It includes a painting, shelves, carpeting, a table, and other special features to honor his memory. Mr. Short left children, who are being cared for by the family.
